Arthur sat at his desk quietly, writing out a long note to the parents of the young girl in front of him in his best handwriting. Dear Sicily Vargas was actually a very good student, but with her grades slipping and her habit of dozing in class, he knew that he needed to take charge and put his foot down in the situation.
“Now, Sicily,” he started, looking up at her over his reading glasses. “I’m not writing this note to be cruel, but to make sure that you do well.” Arthur gave her one of his small, rare smiles. “I’m sure your brother will be willing to talk to me about your little naps in class when he gets here.”
Arthur very vaguely remembered Lovino, and mostly had heard stories about his foul mouth and attitude. He wrote them off as mere rumors, and promptly dismissed them. He looked back down to at the letter, carrying on with explaining how tired the poor girl had seemed lately, and suggesting that perhaps her parents should set her down at an earlier bedtime. As he continued on with the letter, he found his mind drifting back to this Lovino character, wondering if there was absolutely any truth to the rumors that he had heard.
He shook himself. Now was not the time to be pondering rumors, but rather, to be playing the part of the good teacher. He looked up as the door to his room opened.
“Ah, you must be Lovino.” Arthur stood and offered his hand. “I’m Mr. Kirkland.”

Lovino was heading to get Sicily from school, his footsteps slow and relaxed. His mother had called him at the restaurant, telling him that something was up with Sicily at school. He walked into the school and looked around. He hated this place beyond comparison but he knew that Sicily was a good girl and very hepful. At least to him.
He looked at the paper in his hands. He had written down the teacher's name and the classroom. "Arthur Kirkland..room...." he muttered under his breath, looking at the door. Once he finally found it and opened it, he stepped inside. "Yeah. Lovino Vargas." he said, with a slight scowl. "Nice to meet you, Mr.Kirkland." he said. he looked at Sicily who was asleep in her desk. "So, what's wrong with her?" he asked, looking at him. He declined the hand shake, because he really disliked rules, teachers, and anything like that.
He saw no wrong with his precious little sister but he knew that she went to bed late. Around 10 PM. The restaurant only closed at midnight, and opened at 9 AM, but he had to be there a lot earlier. "Mom told me that you called the house and told her that Sicily was having trouble at school. My sister is a helpful person, so there better not be anything too horrible." he said, stepping closer to make himself seem more intimidating.
