Fort Brynn.
During the English Civil War, it was a barracks; a fortress; a prison. No one is quite sure how the prisoners were treated, but the ones who survived never spoke of their imprisonment. Some never spoke at all.
In 1788, after fifty years of disuse, plans were made to renovate Fort Brynn and turn it into a hospital, but the revolution in France and the subsequent Napoleonic wars forced the plans to be put on hold, and the Fort was abandoned until 1878.
It is now 1883 and the God's Acres Sanctuary is about to be opened. The original plans for a hospital were abandoned due to the small size of the former Fort Brynn, and instead it became an asylum for the incurably and criminally insane. The patients accepted at the Sanctuary have been in asylums for years and are widely believed to be hopeless cases or dangerous to society; the Sanctuary is their final stop.
The Sanctuary is owned and operated by a well-known doctor and researcher, Vaughn Ajax, a man who has been researching a cure for the incurable for years. The staff is excited to be a part of his work, despite the fact that he rarely speaks to them in person.
But the excitement is not shared by everyone; the townsfolk near the asylum tell stories about the old Fort and insist if you get too close, you will hear ghosts whispering in your ear. Construction was briefly brought to a standstill when one of the workers inexplicably jumped from the tower and fell to his death. And not everyone is convinced Vaughn is who he claims to be...
Whether you are entering God's Acres Sanctuary as a doctor or a patient, safety waits for no one inside the asylum walls. Here, it is not only the patients who hear voices, and it is not only the doctors who are allowed beyond the doors to the Forbidden Wing.
Enjoy your stay, and don't forget, this is your final stop.
